Possessed by the demon of Promiscuity, immortal warrior Paris is irresistibly seductive - but his potent allure comes at a terrible price. Every night he must bed someone new, or weaken and die. And the woman he craves above all others is the one woman he'd thought was forever beyond his reach… until now.
Newly possessed by the demon of Wrath, Sienna Blackstone is racked by a ruthless need to punish those around her. Yet in Paris's arms, the vulnerable beauty finds soul-searing passion and incredible peace. Until a blood feud between ancient enemies heats up.
Will the battle against gods, angels and creatures of the night bind them eternally - or tear them apart?

My Thoughts

The Darkest Seduction is the longest book so far, but  in my opinion not the best.
For me, it’s all about sexual tension, the more an author can drown me in anticipation the more I love a book, and unfortunately in my case,  the anticipation was nonexistent. I wasn't dying for Paris and Sienna finally get it on, this doesn't take anything away from their passion, sensuality, chemistry or drama, in fact, their story was heartfelt and emotional, their moments together were hot and nothing less than what we have come to expect from the author.
Honestly I can’t really point the finger at exactly the reason why I didn't fall in love with them - Paris, I have always loved, and Sienna was a great heroine. The only thing I can think of is that maybe my expectations were too high and close to impossible to be satisfied.
But there’s nothing wrong with 4 stars, right? This was still a great listen, and thank God Ms. Showalter hasn’t lost her ability to take me away now that I’m finding it more and more difficult to surrender my mind and heart to a Paranormal Romance novel.
I love the lords, and I’ve  not grown tired of their world, I still want  to hear William’s story (my favorite) I still want to go all the way to end, and if you’re  fan of the series I wouldn’t miss this one, it still contains  all the elements that made  you love it in the first place.
Hot
Suspense
Engrossing
Well developed characters
Action
A good love story
Updates on some of the other lords
It was great to get Galen’s point of view which has ignited my interest in him and Legion. I really enjoyed their story, and I’m dying to see where it goes and where it will end.
New characters are introduced; secrets are revealed, and don’t you want to know if the end is near?
I hope my explanation of why this wasn’t a 5 stars  listen doesn’t diminish the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed the book - LOTU continues to be one of favorite Paranormal Romance series and one that I highly recommend to any fan of the genre.
All in all, this is still a solid entry to the Lords of the Underworld and a highly enjoyable listen.

Narration

I can’t believe I have to start my review of the narration with; how can anyone not love Max Bellmore?
I came across a review of the narration on audible.com that blew my mind. It described he's performance in a very distasteful manner. I know that everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but I’m free and very compelled to disagree. I never once during the 15 hrs of this audiobook or during any of the  eight other  books in this series, have I found problems with his rendition, in fact, I love the way he narrates these books, and The Darkest Seduction is not the exception.
Once again his pace and approach are flawless; the mood of the novel, the characters personality and sensuality are perfectly conveyed.
I always post a 10 minute sample of the audio; as a long time listener, I know it takes a little bit to get the feel for the book and narrator.
If you have listened to Max Bellmore before, I would love to hear your opinion.

  1. Great Review. I'm still currently reading this novel, and I totally feel ya! It feels like something is missing. But I can't put my finger on it. Unlike others,I didn't go into this book with many high expectations,Paris was a bit to whiny for me throughout the series,I just couldn't wait for his story to come and go.LOL!

    Hey There's nothing wrong with a 4star rating! =)

  5. Very good review Lup! It sounds like this is a book you have to read to know what's missing. Does that make sense? lol I think the anticipation played a big role for many people. I mean, this is PARIS' book! And I love William too. And honestly, I need to read this just to see Galen and Legion because as it stands now...ew. *g*
