Narrator Spotlight G!veaway/Davina Porter (Outlander)

Narrator Spotlight

DAVINA PORTER

The voice behind the Outlander Series

Davina Porter is known for the sheer beauty of her voice and her always-intelligent renditions of both classic and popular literature. A founding narrator with Recorded Books, Davina has an impressive list of classics in her audiography, including Anna Karenina and Madame Bovary. Few female narrators have the fluid capacity to capture grand historical figures and the more subtle, introspective portraits.
Talking with AudioFile, Davina admires authors who do their homework, like Diana Gabaldon. Davina's celebrated readings of Gabaldon's Outlander series have many fans. She won the 2006 Audie Award for Best Female Narrator with A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

Davina's success with a range of mysteries is a testament to her perceptive approach to seeking the author's intent. The Victorian setting of Anne Perry's Charlotte and Thomas Pitt mysteries are delightfully presented, including recent titles Bluegate Fields and Highgate Rise. Davina introduced listeners to Cynthia Riggs's series with The Cemetery Yew and Deadly Nightshade, both set on Martha's Vineyard.

Davina brings each voice off the page and at the same time maintain a natural sense. She attends to every detail--word, phrase, and emotion come alive with her narrative style.

Without a doubt Davina is  one my favorite narrators. She absolutely captured my heart and the hearts of countless listeners with her impeccable performance of my favorite Historical Fiction  (Romance) series, OUTLANDER. Her performance propels this series to epic status.  Her understanding and knowledge of the character is more than evident in the perfect portrayal of Claire, Jaime and Jack -  just name a few. Her immense talent to deliver the novels in a flawless pace and tone captures the listener's attention dragging him/her to  the era without a backwards glance, and allows you to experience these novels with all their magnificent glory.
Diana Gabaldon's  world is beautifully and expertly brought  to life by Davina Porter, and if for some reason the length of these novels intimidates you, try the audiobook; I guaranteed you won’t be disappointed.
In celebration of audiobook month I like you to get to know her a little better.

  3. Hi! You are the one who got me loving these audio books! I actually own them all now so there is no need to enter my name.
I think I was spoiled by having Davina be my first audio listen because she is hard to follow.
How lovely to feature her here today.

  6. Davina Porter is my absolute favorite narrarator. I average about 80 - 100 audiobooks a year. She is the best, hands down! I have listened to the complete Outlander series twice because of her. She has such a gift at making each character come alive. I count the Outlander series as my favorite series of all time and I credit a big part of that to Davina. Don't get me wrong the series is wonderfully written. But, a bad narration can ruin a really good book.

Thank you for honoring miss Davina Porter.

  9. I just love Divina and her reading of the outlander series. I recently read the Scottish prisioner and got the audio book to listen to. I was shocked that it wasn't Divina reading it. In fact the reading is so bad, I don't think I can listen to it. Why is she not reading this book too.
