Hot Listens Welcomes a New Associate

Hot Listens Welcomes

I met Lisa Kay over a year ago on GoodReads - I was thrilled to find another audiobook junkie with whom I could discuss my love for audiobooks, and we quickly became friends.
Although, she has been sharing her reviews with Hot Listens for quite some time, I’m so excited that she has finally accepted my offer to become my associate.
I like to take this opportunity to welcome her to Hot Listens.

And now, a little bit from Lisa:

I was a CSIC/ICU nurse for over 25 years. Mostly, I read, read, read. In addition, I like to watch the Food Network. I recently went vegan, and am learning to cook all over again. Occasionally I take a homemade card making class with a good friend. I’m happiest when I can listen to a good audiobook while pinning on Pinterest or updating my challenges on GoodReads; although, I should be doing housework or walking around the block.

I started listening to audiobooks in the 1980’s, back when they were on cassettes. LOL! My husband and I would travel by automobile to see my parents and enjoyed a good mystery for the long commute. Luckily, he was open to hearing the cases of female detectives Kinsey Millhone, V.I. Warschawski, and Stephanie Plum. So, it wasn’t all male dominated authors, like Tom Clancy, John Grisham and Dean Koontz, as much as I love them, too. The last birthday gift he gave me was an iPod/Touch, which I absolutely adore. Mostly, on my own, I listen to Historical Romance, since they are my favorite. However, I also love Western Romance, Suspense, Contemporary Romance, Biography, Cozy-Mystery, or a good Detective/Police Procedural story.

If it is one thing I’ve learned, the narrator is critical to kicking a great book up a notch. If you have not given audiobooks a try, pick a great narrator for your first one. It is imperative. Then, it is all downhill from there.

Thank you for stopping by Hot Listens!
