Whispersync for Voice: Enable
Sometimes the best man is the one you least expect... Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there .
Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief—and best friend of her former fiancĂ©.
There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she's having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosé, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk down the aisle.
Amy Rubinate is another narrator I haven't heard before, but I quite liked her. I do think she did a better job on the second half of the story, but maybe that is influenced by my liking the later half better. When a character’s voice is supposed to hold a note of humor or derision, she handles it nicely.
In the first half of this book I thought the heroine was a bit too hung-up on what the hero did in the past. I kept thinking, “Geez, lady. Give the guy a big hug and a thank you instead of such a hard time.” But then, when a little more of their history is revealed...ah!
Nevertheless, this story actually got pretty funny in the second half of the book, so much so I had to kick up the rating a notch. I laughed out loud several times and was reminded how this author can bring it home.
