Genevieve McInnis is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen's rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress - something warm, wicked, and tempting.
Bowen seizes his enemy's keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He's enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer's skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her - even if it means losing her forever.

My Thoughts

I was a little nervous about Highlander Most Wanted; my expectations were through the roof, Never Seduce A Scot was my favorite listen for 2012, and I was afraid I had set myself up for disappointment, I had forgotten what a terrific team Maya Banks and Kirsten Potter make.

It's been a while since a story made me cry, but Genevieve’s fate and the cruel treatment she has received at the hands the laird of McHugh and continues to receive even after his demise is just heart- breaking, and from the very first few pages I knew this was a story that would have my heart and feelings committed to the end.

Unable to go back to her family for fear of casting shame and disgracing her loved-ones, Genevieve has remained captive, that is until Bowen Montgomery crosses her path and begins to see in her a woman of value and beauty, despite the efforts of her tormentor to damage her for life.

This is a story of love and valor, and the journey to triumph pulls every string in your heart.
These characters are perfectly fleshed out, and they will grab you from beginning to end. - Once again, Mrs. Banks creates perfect chemistry between the protagonists to make the pages sizzle.

This is another fantastic Highlander Romance that cleverly complemented with a good dose of suspense, politics and deep emotions delivers in every front.

This entry is a must listen for any fan of this genre. I highly recommend starting with Never Seduce a Scot, which happens to be a finalist for the 2012 Audies (romance category), in a well deserved placement.

Narration

Kirsten Potter is once again is magnificent! This is an emotional novel, and Potter’s interpretation won’t spare you for a second the touching and heart-felt moments in the story.  Genevieve’s misfortune is beautifully captured and delivers a heroine you feel compelled to champion.
The same is true for Bowen’s character; his soft, sweet, yet strong personality (all alpha) nicely comes through.
Perfectly paced and accurately portrayed, the second entry to the Montgomerys and Armstrongs series is a Highlanders story you do not want to miss, and another excellent production by Tantor Audio.

    1. Me too! I'm beginning to think I'd love anything Kirsten Potter narrates. You know how good she is with the Immortal Guardians series and she's just as fantastic with these novels too.
