Warning: This is not a typical, sappy love story. This is an all-consuming, soul-crushing, tear-your-heart-into-pieces story. It's intense, gritty and raw, dark and disturbing, and it doesn't happen overnight. This is an epic love story that knows no boundaries and has no time limits. It grows and develops - with hurt, sacrifice, and heartache - over the span of a lifetime.

Eva Fox is the princess of the Silver Demons Motorcycle Club. Growing up with the bikers in the club, this is the only lifestyle she knows. When she's a young girl, Eva meets the reason for her existence. Deuce West is the sexy biker bad-ass of the Hell's Horsemen Motorcycle Club. Like Eva, he was born and raised in the club - but that's where the similarities end. Their first meeting is innocent, but as Eva matures into a woman, their chance reunions evolve into a fit of lust and love. Fate continues to bring them together time and time again, but their twisted journey is filled with pain, betrayal, and bloodshed that could tear them apart. Eva sees in Deuce what he cannot see in himself - a man worthy of love - and Eva spends her lifetime proving to him that her undeniable love is the one thing he can't live without.
This is Eva and Deuce's story.

My Thoughts

After the  above introduction by the publisher there’s not really a lot I can add, except to corroborate their  blurb, so I’ll keep my thoughts short and to the point about my feelings.

This novel made  me go on a watching marathon of Sons of Anarchy, a TV series I had no interest of watching prior to reading this novel, now; I’m anxiously awaiting the new season premier.

I never thought I could be interested in reading about motorcycle dudes; I always thought they lived a life  so alien to me (not like vampires or werewolves...lol), I always believed the part about  the” sex and rock ‘n’  Roll” and I had also added a few prejudices of my own, like crime, drugs and violence.
Well, this book reiterated all of my believes, but it also open a window that let me see something new, and that no matter by under what code of conduct or ethics we live by, one thing is a constant, and that is, LOVE.
Some love stories are uplifting, some are memorable, and some are right down paved with conflict, obstacles and suffering, but they’re still nonetheless Love tales, as is the case with Eva and Deuce’s story.
Little did Eva know that a visit to her father in jail when she was only 5 years- old would put, Deuce, the head of a Motorcycle club that rival her father’s, (and 18 years her senior) in her path, in her heart, and in the rest of her life.
We can’t question when love happens and with whom it happens; that’s never been more clear an evident than with Eva. She was  a little girl, then a teenager and finally an adult, and throughout all the changes  one thing stayed the same, her love for Deuce. Did he deserved her love? I still don’t know.  He was a difficult character to like, not to mention love, he had quite a few demons to contain, but one thing is for sure, I  enjoyed the heck out reading and then listening to their story, not an easy one; the cheating, the lack of respect for women, and the use of violence  don’t make it easy, but a good author will make you look at the ugly so she can show you the pretty, and that’s exactly with Madeline Sheehan has done with this novel. I found their story impossible to put down regardless of my judgmental attitude towards their life style, and by the end, I wanted more,  more of Eva and Deuce, more of the other characters and more of their Motorcycle  club.

About the narration

I knew I was going to be very critical of the narrator (same as  I always am when I’ve read the story prior to listening),  so when Tantor Audio first put the 3 minutes excerpt prior to its release, I was  very disappointed with the sound of the small clip, but I decided to give the audiobook a shot when the novel was finally released  (they need to put longer clips, too hard to tell with a short sample), and the fact that I only paid $2.99 since I already own the kindle version (YAY! for whispersync) helped make my decision.
What a difference a few more minutes of listening can make with your impression of an audiobook, I’m happy to say within ten minutes I was completely submerged in Eva and Duece’s story once again, and I loved the new dimension that Tatiana Sokolov added to the story.
I experienced the novel with the same intensity I did when I first read it, Ms. Sokolov’s interpretation won’t spare you the emotional and raw feelings this book can inspire.
I felt she did a really good job capturing the characters’ personality, as well as, the mood  of the novel. Her voices were distinctive and gender appropriate.
All in all,  this is a very good performance by Tatiana Sokolov that added an additional 1/2 star to my rating.

  1. Oh yay. Love when they can surprise you like that. I think that's part of why I haven't tried too many audio books is because the clips are so short and it's hard to tell. Glad she ended up doing a great job with it. I loved the book. Would be interesting to hear it I think.
